Kennametal celebrates 60 years in Fallon

LATROBE, Pa., February 24, 2011 — Kennametal Inc.’s Fallon, Nevada, facility is celebrating its 60-year anniversary.  Established in 1951, the ISO 9001 certified facility manufactures tungsten carbide and metallurgical powders used to produce numerous impact and wear-resistant tools, serving industries including aerospace, energy, and earthworks.

Twenty-seven employees at the Fallon facility have 20-plus years of service including Alfred Munoz who recently celebrated 43 years of employment with the company.  Kennametal Fallon’s nearly 100 employees and their families will be recognized at a special luncheon at Churchill County Museum on February 26.

 

Focused on 100% Safe, the facility has received several internal and external awards over the past six decades. These include Kennametal’s 100% Safe and Zero Injuries Award 2010 and the Hughes Christensen Quality Excellence Award, recognizing outstanding safety programs. The State of Nevada has also acknowledged Kennametal with the Governor’s Industry Appreciation Award and the Nevada Promoting Export Award.

In addition, Kennametal’s Fallon operations are committed to giving back to the communities in which they work and live. This includes numerous donations to the United Way, Churchill Arts Council, Western Nevada College scholarship programs and United Blood Services, as well as more than 1,000 volunteer hours to various Churchill County community programs.
