EDAWN News: Business BUZZ Economic Forum Set for March 31

Area business, economic development and education leaders will meet next week to update the Target2010 economic development plan, and develop a new strategic plan to re-build and diversify the Reno-Tahoe economy – and they’re looking for input from local businesses and residents.  Those interested in participating in the economic development planning process are encouraged to attend the:

Business BUZZ “Beyond Target2010” economic forum

Thursday, March 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Program starts at 5:30 p.m.)

$15 for EDAWN members/$25 for non-members

The event is sponsored by the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN).

Program reports and discussions will include a:

  • Target2010 economic development plan review.
  • Keynote presentation by Mark Sweeney, senior principal in McCallum Sweeney Consulting, a national site selection and economic development consulting firm, who will provide an objective assessment of Reno-Tahoe’s economic development efforts, and the viability of the target industries it’s pursuing for company relocation and expansion.
  • Update:  A panel report will feature leaders in education, innovation and fiscal policy who will discuss progress on updated initiatives impacting economic development, including:  Pedro Martinez, deputy superintendent, Washoe County School District; Ky Good, managing director, C4Cube business incubator in Reno; Dick Bostdorff, former vice president/general manager of Nevada Bell and business consultant; and Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki.
