BLM geothermal sale nets $456,000

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) generated $456,353 during a competitive geothermal lease sale lease sale held in Reno today, selling 17 parcels that comprised 42,627 acres.

A Churchill County parcel received the highest bid per acre at $60 and was also the highest bid for a parcel at $253,680 from Ormat Nevada, Inc., of Reno.  Second highest bid was $29,370 by TGP Development Company LLC, San Diego, Calif., at $6 per acre for a 4,894-acre parcel in Mineral County.

The sale offered 51 parcels in Nevada totaling 151,119 acres.  Of the 17 parcels sold, 12 were for $2 per acre. The 34 parcels not sold during the competitive bid sale will be available non-competitively on Wednesday for $2 per acre.

Parcels sold by county were four in Churchill, three in Esmeralda, three in Eureka, two in Mineral, and one each in Lander, Elko, Humboldt and Washoe.
