Reno Chamber Orchestra Announces 2011-12 Season

Date:

SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Scott Faulkner, RCO Executive Director, writes: “I am delighted to announce the 2011-12 Reno Chamber Orchestra season! This will be a Season of Friends – starting with you!

“The ‘friends’ include our guest artists, all of whom are familiar favorites who have performed with us in years past, either as soloist with the RCO or as a musician in the Nevada Chamber Music Festival: violinist Chad Hoopes, cellists Wendy Warner and Peter Lenz, and pianists Pascal Rogé and James Winn. The music we will play is composed by friends. Some, like Mozart, Schubert and Johann Strauss, Jr. are old friends. Others, like Leo Weiner, will be new acquaintances for many of us. We are delighted to close our season with our College Concerto Competition winner as well as the great choral work by Rossini, his Stabat Mater. This performance will feature the UNR Chamber Singers and Concert Choir, prepared by Dr. Paul Torkelson, a brand new friend who is about to begin his first year as Director of Choral Studies at UNR.

“As we all navigate the new and difficult economic realities of our state, nation and world, the RCO is not without its challenges, but it also sees opportunity for service to our community. The RCO board of directors has deepened its commitment to fiscal responsibility and making our music as accessible and meaningful as possible to as many people as possible.

“To that end, we are dedicated to keeping our ticket prices affordable. In order to make this work, we need the dedicated support of people like you. People who are active partners with us in the fulfillment of our vision: ‘Superb Music. Shared Experience. Enriched Lives.’

“As we celebrate the end of this season and look forward to the next, I ask three things of you:

1. Purchase your 2011-12 season tickets right away
2. If you haven’t already, make a generous, tax-deductible gift to the RCO
3. Spread the word about the RCO and encourage your friends to attend our concerts and help us fill Nightingale Concert Hall

“If you will help us in these ways, together we can bring a great deal of joy, encouragement, inspiration, and beautiful music to world that could really use it right about now.”
