Sandoval appoints acting wildlife director

CARSON CITY–Gov. Brian Sandoval today announced his appointment of Ken Mayer as acting director of the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

“I am pleased that Ken has agreed to return to the Department of Wildlife as acting director,” Sandoval said. “His wealth of experience and knowledge makes him a strong voice for the wildlife community.”

Prior to joining the Department of Wildlife, Mayer worked for the California Department of Fish and Game for 27 years serving in a number of supervisory and executive positions in wildlife management. Mayer is a certified wildlife biologist and the editor/author of four books and more than two dozen scientific papers on wildlife and their habitats. Mayer has a B.S. and a Masters of Science in Natural Resources Management from Humboldt State University.
