STATEMENT FROM RENO MAYOR BOB CASHELL

“I was as surprised as anyone yesterday morning upon learning about Senator Raggio’s retirement from elected office.  As has been said, he is simply irreplaceable.  Nevertheless, over the course of the past 24 hours, I have been contacted by several people asking if I would consider the possibility of seeking his replacement.

“After reviewing this unexpected situation with my wife Nancy and several trusted friends and advisers, I have decided that I can continue to do the most good for our community as the Mayor of Reno and therefore I intend to stay right where I am.  That said, I look forward to working with whoever is chosen to succeed Senator Raggio in a combined effort to maintain a strong voice for northern Nevada.

“I am grateful for the trust the voters have placed in me as I work toward completing my third term as Mayor of Reno.”
