SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Check Presentation at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17

Cadets from Washoe County JROTC will donate $2,700 to the Veterans Guest House, tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 17 at 3:30 p.m. The Veterans Guest House has provided temporary overnight accommodation to veterans and their families who are receiving medical treatment in the Reno/Sparks area for 16 years. The Guest House relies on generous donations from the community and does not use any state or federal funds for the day-to-day operational costs of the Guest House.

Cadets raised $2,700 by marching in parades, including Veterans Day Parades and Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade, and encouraging parade audiences to donate to the Guest House by placing money in a large donation jar.

The check presentation will take place at the Guest House at 880 Locust Street at 3:30 p.m. Cadets will present the donation to Noreen Leary, Chief Operating Officer of the Guest House, Lt. Col. Dan Waters, Guest House Board President and other Board members.

Visit the Guest House at www.veteransguesthouse.org.

The Veterans Guest House provides United States Military service veterans and their families temporary overnight accommodations when receiving treatment at a medical facility in the Reno/Sparks area. It also accommodates veterans traveling to Reno for outpatient medical care.  The majority of guests receive treatment at the Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC).  The VAMC covers 100,000 square miles from Bishop to Auburn, Elko and Ely.  The Veterans Guest House is located at 880 Locust Street in Reno, Nevada.
