SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Continuing Saint Mary’s tradition of delivering the best patient care in northern Nevada, Saint Mary’s Medical Group (SMMG) welcomes primary care physician Dr. Amber Hayes to its Spanish Springs location.  Currently an urgent care facility, the Spanish Springs location at 5070 Ion Drive, Suite 100 will now offer both urgent and primary care services.  The location will begin seeing primary care patients Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while urgent care services will continue to be available to patients Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We are excited to expand the services at this location, as it will provide patients with more options and greater flexibility in choosing a primary care physician,” said Donald Farrimond, MD, medical director of Saint Mary’s Medical Group. “Dr. Hayes brings a high level of expertise to the field and her background in family medicine will be a great fit for this location.”

A family practice physician and noted author of several research articles, Dr. Hayes is a graduate of the University of Nevada School of Medicine.  While completing her residency at the University of Nevada, she was elected Chief Resident and was a recipient of the Outstanding Resident Award.

Primary care physicians diagnose and treat common health problems, coordinate medical care for patients, manage medications, promote healthy lifestyles, and focus on disease prevention.  An urgent care center is a convenient and cost-effective way to treat unexpected health problems outside of a primary care doctor’s office hours.  Urgent care symptoms include: moderate fever; colds, cough or flu; minor burns; eye, ear, and skin infections; respiratory infections; bruises, abrasions and minor cuts; and minor accidents that are not life-threatening.

In addition to the newly expanded urgent and primary care location, SMMG has a new retail clinic in Spanish Springs located inside the Walmart at Pyramid Highway.  The retail clinic treats common health ailments and offers routine services. These include, but are not limited to, the following: routine physical examinations, immunizations, acute bronchitis/cough, allergic conditions, minor medical conditions and injuries and diagnostic laboratory testing.

Saint Mary’s Medical Group offers same day appointments at all of its convenient locations.  To schedule an appointment or for more information, call 770-SMMG (7664) or visit saintmarysmedicalgroup.com.
