Horses for the Spirit is proud to announce the receipt of a $2,000 Community Enrichment Fund Grant from the Junior League of Reno to support an Equine Assisted Learning program in 2011.

“We are so thankful to receive support from the Junior League of Reno,” says Deb Conrad, Executive Director for Horses for the Spirit. “Our clients pay only a portion of the costs associated with running our Equine Assisted Learning programs, so this grant will help us provide programs in 2011.”

Horses for the Spirit, founded in 2005, is a 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to offering Equine Assisted Learning programs to youth in Washoe County. Its programs have been developed to teach positive life and social skills to kids generally between the ages 12 and 19. Horses are an essential part of the teaching team and natural horsemanship is the vehicle for teaching. The goal is that the graduates of the programs have acquired skills in areas such as leadership, teamwork, problem solving, managing behavior and more. Visit the website for more information: www.horsesforthespirit.org.

Horses for the Spirit will begin planning for 2011 programs in January with expected start dates at the end of March.
