Inaugural Committee announces events for Governor-elect Brian Sandoval

sandovaltransition-300x62-5070968-1054266The Inaugural Committee for the inauguration of Brian Sandoval as Nevada’s 29th governor announced today the launch of an inaugural website as well as the schedule of events for the inauguration.

The website, sandovalinauguration.com, will serve as an information clearinghouse for Sandoval’s inauguration.

Events will kick off on Sunday, Jan. 2, with a celebration of Nevada arts in Carson City. From 1 to 5 p.m., cultural organizations in downtown Carson City will open their doors to offer free music and dance performances, demonstrations by traditional artists, visual arts and history exhibitions, children’s activities and shopping opportunities.

A performing arts showcase will take place at the Brewery Arts Center from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The event is free, but seating is limited. Tickets can be obtained at the Brewery Arts Center.

On Monday, Jan. 3, Sandoval and his family will begin the day with Mass at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City at 9 a.m. The public is welcome to attend Mass with the first family.

At 11:30 a.m, the swearing-in ceremony for the governor-elect and other constitutional officers will begin on the front steps of the Capitol. The grounds will open at 10:30 a.m., and Sandoval will be sworn in at noon.

From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Governor and Mrs. Sandoval will hold a reception in the lobby of the Nevada State Library and Archives Building.

The committee also announced the dates and locations for the inaugural balls. The Southern Nevada inaugural ball and dinner will be Friday, Jan. 28, at Wynn Las Vegas. The Northern Nevada inaugural ball and dinner will be Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Silver Legacy.
