Background
For 30 years, Evelyn Mount has provided holiday meals to thousands of Reno and Sparks families through the program she and her late husband Leon founded. For the twelfth year, member firms of the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) will drop off food collected for the Community Outreach program. For the first year Orvis, a sporting goods store in the Summit Sierra, partnered with AGC to raise food. Members will also present her with an oversized $1,000 Sak N Save gift certificate. The donation will be delivered in the bucket of a loader donated by Q & D Construction. The Nevada Chapter not only donates food to the Mount’s program, but has also purchased a truck, and helped organize and build storage facilities at the Mount home in the past. In 1999, the Nevada Chapter honored the Mounts’ decades of community service with a special SIR Award recognizing their Skill, Integrity and Responsibility.
About the AGC
The Nevada Chapter AGC was formed in 1939 by a group of Nevadans to replace the dangerous gravel roads in northern Nevada with modern asphalt. Now the group has become known for more than building roads. AGC members have battled floods, built hospitals, parks and schools. Over 300 members strong, the Nevada Chapter strives to support the image and awareness of the construction industry and the community quality of life with “Skill, Integrity and Responsibility.”
The AGC represents Northern Nevada’s top general contractors and building professionals who employ an estimated 10,000 workers and are responsible for approximately $320 million in payroll.
The AGC is designed to create a cohesive environment in the construction field for the purpose of creating unity among members, building a professional work environment, increasing work satisfaction, and improving job performance. The Nevada Chapter AGC building is located at 5400 Mill St. Reno, NV 89502. The Nevada AGC may also be contacted by mail at PO Box 7578 Reno, NV 89510 or by phone at 775-329-6166 or via e-mail @ www.nevadaagc.org.
