sandovaltransition-300x62-2030995-7686456Governor-elect Brian Sandoval announced today that Clark County School Board President Terri Janison will serve as his director of community relations and run his Southern Nevada office.

“I have pledged to make education a centerpiece of my administration, so Terri’s experience as a school trustee will be invaluable as we reach out to engage the community in reform efforts,” Sandoval said. “Terri knows how important it is that we find new approaches to serve our constituents and encourage Nevadans to be more involved with government in positive ways.”

Janison has been a member of the Clark County Board of Trustees since October 2005. A children’s advocate for more than 20 years, she has worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) representing foster children in the court system and as the executive director of nonprofit organizations serving children. Janison holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising from Western Kentucky University.

Janison will resign from her post on the school board to join the Sandoval administration, which takes office on January 3, 2011.
