Saint Mary’s Hospice and Palliative Care host free seminars during National Hospice Week

Saint Mary’s Hospice will host two free seminars to bring awareness to National Hospice and Palliative Care Week taking place Nov. 14 through Nov. 20.  Interested community members are invited to learn more about the programs Saint Mary’s offers, including bereavement support groups, family sessions and volunteer training.  In addition to hosting two free seminars, Saint Mary’s Hospice will have an information booth at 645 N. Arlington Street from Monday, Nov. 15 to Thursday, Nov. 18 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

During the national awareness week, medical director, Dr. Kelle Brogan will host two free seminars on “Handling Difficult Conversations.”  The seminars will provide information on talking with family members about end of life decisions.  The first seminar will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from noon to 1:30 p.m. and will include lunch.  The second seminar will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will include dinner and wine service.  Both seminars will be hosted at Saint Mary’s at 645 N. Arlington Ave, Auditoriums A and B.  Physician Ethics CME’s and Nursing CEU’s are available for professionals.

Saint Mary’s Hospice has been serving the northern Nevada region for over 30 years and gives patients the support and comfort they need to live a fuller, more meaningful life, even in the wake of a life-threatening illness.  Through the hospice philosophy, Saint Mary’s provides patients and family members with the tools and guidance necessary in understanding and dealing with the grieving process.
