REMSA paramedic team participates in international competition in Reno

WHO: A team of paramedics from the Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority (REMSA)

WHAT: As part of the 2010 ITLS (International Trauma Life Support) International Trauma Conference that is taking place in Reno this year, a team of paramedics from REMSA will compete in the event’s international competition that will test the team’s skill, speed and medical accuracy s they assess and treat trauma victims in a realistic, case-based scenario. REMSA paramedics Matt Dixon, Eric Bridges and Adam Heinz will make up the REMSA team.

Earlier this year, the REMSA team won the bronze medal finishing in third place at the annual JEMS (Journal of Emergency Medical Services) Games at the national EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Today Conference in Baltimore, Md.

WHEN: The finals of the competition will be held Friday, Nov. 5 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

WHERE: Atlantis Hotel Casino

WHY: The annual ITLS (International Trauma Life Support) International Trauma Conference is an international education event for emergency medical personnel, including emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, nurses, emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, emergency medical service (EMS) administrators and EMS educators.

REMSA is a private, not-for-profit emergency medical services system serving northern Nevada. REMSA’s state-of-the-art 9-1-1 dispatch communications center is fully accredited, as are all emergency medical transport services of the company. REMSA provides quality patient care with no taxpayer support or other subsidies.
