Freight House District, Food Bank to partner in food drive

The Freight House District, located adjacent to Aces Ballpark in Downtown Reno, will serve as a chief drop-off location for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada this holiday season, the entertainment complex announced today.

Donations will be accepted beginning this Wednesday, in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, and will conclude on Dec. 3. All canned and boxed food items will be accepted.

On Friday, Dec. 3, the Freight House District, Reno Aces, Reno Bighorns and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada will team-up for a special Food Drive Day.

The Freight House District will offer food and drink specials throughout the day, beginning at 11 a.m. Ten percent of all food and beverage proceeds will be given back to the Food Bank to help support needy families this holiday season. Additionally, those who donate on Dec. 3 will have the opportunity to win prize packages provided by the Aces and Bighorns.

That evening, the Whitney Myer band will be the featured concert at the Freight House District, and the cover charge will be waived on Friday night for all patrons donating a food item until 11 p.m.

The 2010-11 Bighorns season began last weekend with a two-game sweep of the Utah Flash. Reno returns to the floor on Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27. Single-game and season tickets are available now. Call (775) 284-2622 or visit www.RenoBighorns.com for more information.
