bgctmstackedcolor600-300x189-7374081-5023409The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows invites the community to its annual pre-Thanksgiving celebration with Bully’s Sports Bar & Grill Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Facility on East Ninth Street in Reno. The Paul Sonner Community Thanksgiving dinner provides turkey and all the fixings for a free community meal in honor of the founder of Bully’s Sports Bar & Grill, who was actively involved in sports programs and was an avid supporter of the Club. The dinner is now in its seventh year and all members of the community are invited to stop in, celebrate and gobble up a traditional meal on the night before the national holiday.

“We are proud to honor and remember Paul as we continue this annual Thanksgiving tradition at the Club,” said Jo Sonner of Bully’s Sports Bar & Grill. “He strongly believed in giving back to our community by bringing people together during the holidays, which we look forward to carrying on in his memory.”

Continuing on with the annual partnership, Bully’s Sports Bar & Grill provides food and beverages including turkey, stuffing and all the fixings, as well as dessert and drinks compliments of Coca-Cola, Franco French, Model Dairy, Bonanza Produce and Westco Bakemark.

The 7th annual event also includes free standard flu shots from the University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM) beginning at 4 p.m. This is the fourth year the UNSOM has donated the flu shots to diners at the Club and only minimal paperwork is required to obtain the vaccination. Also, bring down the whole family for free family photos along with free youth fingerprinting and I.D. kits and a special letter-writing station for those who may be unable to spend time with family this holiday season.

In addition, all Bully’s locations are now accepting donations of jackets, gloves, and hats to benefit children at the Boys & Girls Club, through Nov. 24. Donation bins are in stores now and all items will be presented to the Club during the Thanksgiving Eve event. The community is encouraged to join in the holiday spirit of giving by donating any and all winter coats and related items, especially children’s jackets, at any of the seven Bully’s locations. Attendees at the Nov. 24 event are also invited to sign up to participate, either as a recipient or donor, in the Club’s Adopt-A-Family program which provides Christmas gifts for those less fortunate during the holidays.

Together, the Boys & Girls Club and Bully’s serve more than 1,000 community members each Thanksgiving Eve. Volunteers are crucial to the success of the evening and those who are interested in volunteering can contact Gayle Farley at [email protected] or by calling 775-331-3605 x 209.

Can’t make it down to the Club for the turkey feast? Head over to Bully’s #3 at the corner of McCarran Boulevard and Pyramid Highway Thurs., Nov. 25 from 12 – 5 p.m., as Bully’s serves up its 6th annual free meal complete with all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings.
