Opinion: Sandoval briefly surfaces with hypocritical, non-starter attack

Date:

SUBMITTED RELEASE

roryreid-150x150-4836897-7611000Brian Sandoval – the man who quit his last four jobs, letting down the people of Nevada – today took the boldly hypocritical step of questioning Rory Reid’s work history in his latest attack ad.

“Although it’s nice to see Brian Sandoval do something – this is just a pathetic misfire,” said Mike Trask, spokesman for Rory 2010. “Sandoval hasn’t been talking to voters. He’s been refusing to attend candidate forums and debates for weeks. And when he does surface, he declines to give the tiniest detail of how he’s going to help the nearly 15 percent of Nevadans looking for jobs. And he won’t tell voters how he will balance the state budget. It’s amazing how he continues to insult the intelligence of voters, even on the eve of early voting. ”

While Sandoval has abdicated his responsibility to Nevadans repeatedly by resigning from every office in which he has served, Rory Reid has been a stalwart in his service to the public.

The Clark County Commission considers thousands of items each year. The Las Vegas Weekly named Rory a top public servant in 2010, noting, “No one can doubt Reid’s work ethic.”

Sandoval has already failed with this false line of attack once. Observers from both ends of the political spectrum found the argument ridiculous in a Las Vegas Review Journal article:

“I don’t think it is a good attack, nobody gives a crap,” said Ronni Council, a campaign consultant to Democratic candidates who isn’t involved in the gubernatorial campaign. “This is a really weak argument, it just seems like a distraction tool.”

Ryan Erwin, a consultant to Republican candidates who isn’t involved in the gubernatorial campaign, said it’s unlikely voters will care that Reid missed 140 votes — the Clark County Commission considers thousands of items every year.

The Las Vegas Sun previously reported, “The 140 missed votes, however, represent an estimated 3 percent of the 4,000 or more votes by the commission in that time period. County commission meetings typically last between six and eight hours.”

Rory Reid is the only candidate for governor to offer solutions for today and a plan for Nevada’s future success – supporting strong schools for a stronger economy. For more information about his campaign or to download his plans, visit Rory2010.com.
