Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Mormon leaders discuss God in Sparks Summit Christian Church

RENO, Nev. — In a remarkable interfaith gesture, Summit Christian Church in Sparks organized a panel discussion “Are all religions the same?” involving leaders of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a New Testament professor on Oct. 23 and 24.

Topics of discussion included concept of God, sacred texts, Jesus Christ, and death. Participants included Muslim Imam Abdulrahim Barghouthi, Hindu leader Rajan Zed, Jewish Rabbi Anne Persin, Rick Lund of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and theology professor Dr. David Timms. Steve Bond, Senior Pastor of the Summit Christian Church, acted as moderator.

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, quoted from ancient Hindu scripture Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord) and explained that physical death was not considered final in Hinduism and Self acquired a new body when it was worn out.
