SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

harryreid1-150x150-7580865-8925504Sen. Harry Reid yesterday celebrated news that the Bureau of Land Management has approved a plan to reopen the Coeur Rochester gold and silver mine 20 miles north of Lovelock, creating 200 direct jobs that will pay an average of $86,000.

The mine expansion approval will allow the Coeur d’Alene Mines Company to restart mining activity within months. Since last year Reid has worked with the BLM to streamline the approval process to create badly needed jobs in Pershing County.

In addition to 200 direct jobs, the reopening of the mine will generate approximately 182 indirect jobs and millions in additional revenue from payroll, mining and sales taxes for Pershing and Humboldt Counties and the state of Nevada.

“This project is so important to the people of Pershing and Humboldt counties,” said Reid. “We have been working together for over a year to make this mine expansion possible. I am grateful to the people at Coeur Rochester, local leaders like Commissioner Roger Mancebo and BLM Director Bob Abbey for their dedication to this effort. These high-paying jobs will make a big difference to families in northern Nevada.”
