The Nov. 6th Victorian Tea, Fashion Show, Genteel Disrobe and more, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Comstock Chapel at Foothills Church of Christ, 1477 Chamey Drive, in south Reno is a fundraiser the church and will benefit the Village of Hope Orphanage in Ghana West Africa.Â
Victorian music from a string quartet and demonstrations of the Womanly Arts will enhance the afternoon’s entertainment.
The Fashion Show will include an Edwardian Style (1908) elegant disrobe by Lady Carolyn Loftis. Lady Loftis describes each garment and details its purpose as she removes (all 27 pounds of it) it. She completes her disrobe still wearing more than most summer season grocery shoppers.
Afternoon demonstrations of the Womanly Arts will display:
- Tatting
- Berlin Work
- Lace Making
- The Language of Fans
A craft boutique featuring handmade items perfect for gift giving and Victorian Christmas wreathes will also be showcased during the event.
Attendees are encouraged to wear Victorian costumes if they have them.
Tickets for the Victorian Tea, Fashion Show & More are $20 for adults and $12 for children age 12 and younger and are available at the door of the Foothills Church of Christ Comstock Chapel or in advance by calling Nancy Turner at 775-448-6444. Gentlemen are welcome to attend.
