washoedems-300x98-5470206-1380159The Democratic Party of Washoe County announces this year’s Virginia Demmler honorees: Michelle Barry, Pam DuPré and Rudy Viola.

Featured guest speaker at the Honor Roll Dinner will be Mitch Stewart, national director of Organizing for America. The dinner will be held Friday, Sept. 24, at the Grand Sierra Resort from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

“We are so excited to be honoring these volunteers and all of their hard work,” said Shaun Gray, executive director of the Democratic Party of Washoe County. “Each volunteer has done something remarkable for the Washoe County Democratic Party, and we are fortunate to have worked with them.”

Each volunteer being honored at this year’s appreciation dinner played a pivotal role in grassroots activism and who better to honor these volunteers’ activism than Mitch Stewart, national director of President Obama’s grassroots campaign Organizing for America and Iowa caucus director for the 2008 presidential primary?

“We are looking forward to having Mitch Stewart as our guest speaker this year,” Gray said. “We couldn’t think of a better person than Mr. Stewart, who led the way in President Obama’s grassroots organization, to honor our volunteers’ efforts.”

Michelle Barry is being honored for her work in voter registration activity and her participation in the field operations team. Pam DuPré is being honored for her essential role in the development of the party while serving as executive director and for her consistent involvement in various volunteer capacities. Rudy Viola is being honored for his many years of effort to keep the local union community connected with our local Democratic party.

Master of ceremonies for the evening will be Brian Hutchinson, former field director in Washoe County for the Democratic National Committee and the Nevada State Democratic Party and currently the director, Grassroots Operations, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids in Washington, D.C.
