SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
Influenza is the leading cause of absenteeism from work, and with flu season fast approaching, northern Nevada businesses can easily and affordably keep their employees healthy with a Saint Mary’s worksite flu shot clinic.
Local businesses interested in providing their employees with flu shot vaccinations can schedule an appointment for a nurse to administer vaccinations onsite. For more information and to schedule your worksite flu shots, call 775-770-7051 or 775-770-3510.
This year, the influenza vaccine will be all encompassing to protect against three types of flu. Recommended by the World Health Organization, this year’s flu shot will contain vaccine from H1N1, Influenza A and Brisbane B.
“The flu virus greatly impacts our community and local businesses every year. Offering flu shots is a simple and convenient way for businesses to promote health and wellness in the workplace,” said Mary Bristol, supervisor at Saint Mary’s Immunizations. “Encouraging employees to get a flu shot helps prevent the spread of the virus and protects others in the workplace, at home and beyond.”
Every year in the United States, up to 20 percent of the population gets the flu and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized for flu complications. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that can cause mild to severe symptoms. The only method to prevent these symptoms and protect oneself from the virus is to get a flu shot. The flu shot is approved for people older than 6 months of age, including healthy individuals and those with chronic medical conditions.
