SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Kick-start a healthy lifestyle and develop a new perspective on food with Saint Mary’s Healthy Nutrition for Life, a six-week class focusing on improving nutrition and maintaining a healthy weight. Healthy Nutrition for Life will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays starting Sept. 30 and ending Nov. 4 at Saint Mary’s at Galena, 18653 Wedge Parkway.

“The class is designed to provide participants with manageable tips to improve eating habits,” said Peggy Nipp, registered dietitian and certified health and wellness coach for Saint Mary’s. “Participants set weekly goals and are provided with information to help achieve their personal nutrition objectives both now and in years to come.”

Healthy Nutrition for Life is taught by a registered dietitian and is designed for individuals interested in improving their eating habits to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Class topics include portion control, reading nutrition labels, cooking, dining out, fitness activities and a hands-on grocery store tour.

“Eating well is a building block for a healthy lifestyle and helps to minimize one’s risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes and cancer,” Nipp adds. “Our objective is to give participants the knowledge and tools they need to make important nutrition changes and promote overall health and wellness.”

The cost of the class for community members is $90. Members of Saint Mary’s HealthFirst and Health Choice may participate for a $25 co-pay. To learn more about eating healthy, register for Healthy Nutrition for Life by calling 775-770-7100 and begin the journey to a healthier life.
