artown-logo-215x300-1897093-1493582RENO, Nev. — Totals are in, and Artown’s “Give $3, Keep Artown Free” campaign brought in more than $25,000 in donations over the 31-day festival. Contributions ranged from change in people’s pockets to $100 or more and were made at Artown events in Wingfield Park throughout July as well as at 30 northern Nevada U.S. Bank locations, through envelopes inserted into the Reno Gazette-Journal and online at RenoIsArtown.com.

Artown, a non-profit organization, launched the “Give $3, Keep Artown Free” campaign to encourage the community to support Artown’s vibrant and noteworthy performances held throughout July. Of the festival’s nearly 400 events 63 percent are free. The goal of the program is to increase individual contributions so the festival can continue to present the high-caliber free programming attendees have come to expect. In 2010 such free programming included the festival’s Monday Night Music Series, Family Series and World Music Series along with Opening and Closing Nights.
