RENO, Nev. – Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) was recently awarded the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting for the seventh consecutive year.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) was given for TMWA’s 2008-2009 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
In addition to the Certificate of Achievement, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement was presented to Chief Financial Officer, Jeffrey Tissier, for his work in preparing the award-winning CAFR. This is also Tissier’s seventh time receiving the individual award. Both accomplishments would not have possible without the hard work and dedication of both Tissier and the finance team.
According to GFOA, the Water Authority’s financial report was chosen because it met the high standards of the program, demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) is a not-for-profit water utility, overseen by elected officials from Reno, Sparks and Washoe County. TMWA employs a highly skilled team who ensure the treatment, delivery and availability of high-quality drinking water around the clock for more than 330,000 residents of the Truckee Meadows.
