GOVERNOR’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE

CARSON CITY — Governor Jim Gibbons today announced the appointment of Erlene Flanagan to the Storey County Commission. Erlene Flanagan will replace her husband, John Flanagan, on the Commission. John Flanagan died unexpectedly of natural causes in Virginia City last week.

Erlene Flanagan will fill the seat on the Storey County Commission until December 31, 2010. Her husband was not running for re-election and had planned to retire after his term ended.

“First let me offer my deepest condolences to Erlene and the Flanagan family for their loss,” Governor Gibbons said, “John Flanagan was a good man and a good Commissioner. I am pleased Erlene has accepted this appointment to the Commission. She frequently attended meetings with John and is very familiar with the issues facing Storey County.”

“I am proud and humbled that Governor Gibbons has shown so much confidence in me,” Erlene Flanagan said, “I will work hard with the other Commissioners to do what’s best for Storey County.”

Erlene Flanagan’s appointment takes effect immediately. She is expected to be sworn in as a member of the Storey County Commission in the next few days.
