The Builders Association of Northern Nevada (The Builders) invites building industry professionals to come together for a Construction Defect Forum on August 24, 2010 from 11a.m. to 1p.m at John Ascuaga’s Nugget. Keynote Speaker – Josh Griffin is a Former Nevada assembly member and lobbyist for the Nevada Subcontractors Association and the MGM Mirage, the largest developer and employer in the state of Nevada. Panelists:
The current construction defect legislation is a major problem for the construction industry. Not only does it cost builders and subcontractors massive amounts of money in legal fees, it devalues property in entire communities. In many cases the homeowner doesn’t even receive enough money to perform the repairs.
An electrical subcontractor in Nevada was named in a suit that cost him over $43,000 in legal fees for a repair that was $48. This is just one example of how devastating this can be to the already depressed home building industry.
Keynote Speaker – Bruce King, of Pete King Nevada Corp, is a licensed painting and drywall contractor and has been in the construction business in for over 15 years. King is Treasurer of the Nevada State Contractors Board and has been an active member in various construction industry associations, including the Coalition For Fairness in Construction, Associated General Contractors, Association of Builders and Contractors and the Nevada Subcontractors Association.
