The Dali Lama said, our prime purpose in this life is to help others” and Ray Pezonella took that to heart.  The Builders Association of Northern Nevada (BANN) and the Builders Association Charity (BAC) will honor local businessman and community supporter, Ray Pezonella July 17, 2010 at their Charity Golf Tournament.

“I wish there were more people like Ray Pezonella,” said Mike Dillon, BANN Executive Director.  “Not only has he done great things for the construction industry, but he has gone above and beyond for the community as a whole.”

When he isn’t working, Pezonella selflessly devotes his time and resources to support a number of local non-profit organizations.  He purchased his own 50-passenger bus to drive children to Camp Dat So La Lee at Lamoille Canyon, near Elko.  The Reno Arch Lions Club created the camp in 1989 for children of families that are not financially able to afford private camps in the area.

He is active in the Reno Arch Lions Club, Boys and Girls Club, Pop Warner Football, area school sports programs, the Builders Association Charity and many other non-profit organizations in Northern Nevada.

If you ask a member of the building industry to describe Ray Pezonella, one word comes up every time – generous. “You have to admire his spirit of volunteerism,” Teri Scharosch, BANN Director of Operations said. “Ray is one of the few people that always has genuine concern for others.”

Pezonella is a Builders Association of Northern Nevada Past President, A BANN Hall of Fame Inductee, a Life Spike, a BUILD PAC Trustee, former Nevada Home Builders Association president and an AGC SIR Award winner.  That’s just a sample of some of his accomplishments in the building industry!

Pezonella founded Pezonella Associates in 1977.  The firm is the oldest and largest locally owned geotechnical engineering company and materials testing laboratory in Reno, Nevada.

The BANN gives BACk Charity Golf Tournament honoring Ray Pezonella, will tee off at 1:30 p.m. at D’Andrea Golf Club this Saturday, July 17.  BANN is still taking reservations for players for $125 each or a barbeque and honor ceremony only ticket for just $25.   If you are interested, please call Missy at 775-329-4611 or visit www.thebuilders.com for more information.
