BLM Resource Advisory Council to Meet in Winnemucca on July 13-14

CARSON CITY — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City and Winnemucca Districts, announce that in accordance with the Federal Land Policy and Management Act and the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972 (FACA), a meeting of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management-Nevada (BLM) Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the BLM-Winnemucca District Office (WDO), 5100 East Winnemucca Blvd., Winnemucca, Nev., starting at 9:00 a.m. A RAC field trip will be held (weather-permitting) on Wednesday, July 14, departing the WDO at 8:00 a.m. for stops at various public land sites in Pershing County.

Members of the public are invited to participate both days, but they will need to provide their own transportation and lunch on the field trip on Wednesday, July 14.

Topics of RAC discussion will include: District Manager’s reports on current program of work, Draft Winnemucca RMP/EIS, Ruby Pipeline, an update on the BLM-Nevada Wild Horse & Burro gathers, ARRA stimulus projects implementation, Black Rock NCA Wilderness Plan, Cheat grass die-off implications, and additional topics the council may raise during the meeting.

The public may present general written and/or oral comments to the RAC in Winnemucca at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13. A detailed agenda is currently posted at: http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/res/resource_advisory/sierra_front-northwestern.html
