TMWA and Nevada Home to recognize water-conscious customers

As residents prepare their lawns and landscapes for another summer,   Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) and Nevada Home magazine are currently accepting entries for the sixth-annual Water-Efficient Landscape Awards. The awards recognize customers who have dedicated some or all of their landscaping to water-efficient methods.

This year, businesses are offering their support and have come together with $3,000 in prizes, which will be distributed to first-, second- and third-place winners in two categories: design by homeowner and design by professional.  Participating sponsors include All Seasons Lawn and Landscaping, Dayton Valley Turf, Dry Creek Garden Company, Moana Nursery, Rail City Garden Center and Western Turf & Hardscapes.

All TMWA customers are eligible to enter this free program and entries will be evaluated based on aesthetics, efficient irrigation system, plant selection and mulches. All entrants must provide four to six different color photos of the water-efficient portion of their yards. Photos will not be returned and may be used for promotion where appropriate. The deadline to enter is Sept. 10, 2010.  For more information, complete contest rules and to enter online, visit www.tmwalandscapeguide.com or call (775) 829-2810.

Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) is a not-for-profit water utility, overseen by elected officials from Reno, Sparks and Washoe County. TMWA employs a highly skilled team who ensure the treatment, delivery and availability of high-quality drinking water around the clock for more than 330,000 residents of the Truckee Meadows.
