Second annual Reno-Tahoe WordCamp draws bigger names, larger crowds

Date:

Merlin Mann, of 43folders.com, will keynote the 2010 Reno-Tahoe WordCamp.

June 5, 2010 Organizers of the Internet media conference, Reno-Tahoe WordCamp, say that their event this Saturday at the University of Nevada, Reno will far exceed what they accomplished last year, with a new speakers and more chances for attendees to connect with industry professionals. The one-day conference filled with classes for anyone who works, publishes or desires a presence online, is designed to appeal to a wide range of Internet users.

Reno-Tahoe WordCamp, part of a nation-wide collection of conferences aimed at educating and inspiring those who design websites, develop applications or publish content on the Internet, promises the same benefits as tech conferences held in the bay area, but at a fraction of the cost. According to organizer Colin Loretz, the event focuses on being practical as well as economical. “This year we’re flying in speakers who have never presented in this area, as well as tapping local experts, in order to give Reno attendees an extraordinary experience without having to drive to San Francisco where many events like this usually take place.”

Starting off the event this year will be a keynote address by internet author and sought after speaker Merlin Mann, of the website 43Folders. Mann is a pragmatic voice in the area of business productivity whose work has been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Time Magazine.

Tickets for the event include access to the full day of sessions at the University of Nevada, Reno, as well as an exclusive pre-party hosted by Mann the night before at the Reno Collective, and a limited edition commemorative Reno-Tahoe WordCamp t-shirt designed by a local artist and produced by Reno eNVy. Lunch is also provided with admission. Because last year’s event sold out, prospective attendees are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance at the conference website, www.renotahoewordcamp.com.
