Opinion: Rory Reid on TV, opponent hides

Date:

SUBMITTED RELEASE

roryreid-150x150-6309185-3206222Gubernatorial candidate Rory Reid hit the airwaves this week with the first television ad of the general election season.

His opponent has been nowhere to be found. As prominent political pundit Jon Ralston wrote on Thursday, “Since the day after the primary, gubernatorial hopeful Sandoval has done two local interviews–both conservative radio programs, according to his campaign. That’s it.”

Brian Sandoval has begun his strategy of dodging questions and ducking debates.

Reid has already accepted a pair of invitations to participate in monthly debates on Ralston’s “Face to Face” and to debate with Sandoval on the statewide “Nevada Newsmakers” show with Sam Shad. Sandoval has continued to be elusive.

In fact, when Fox 5 in Las Vegas wanted to get a comment from Sandoval they were greeted with silence. Instead, Sandoval’s team trotted out a Republican National Committee talking head from Washington, D.C., to do their bidding.

“Nevada voters deserve to know what Brian Sandoval will do for our schools,” Reid said. “I have offered my EDGE plan to complete reform our education system. Brian Sandoval has said nothing except that he will take $110 million dollars from 7- and 8-year-olds’ classrooms and fire one in five Nevada teachers during a time of record unemployment. My opponent clearly does not understand that we will never have a strong and truly diverse economy until we have stronger schools.”

Rory Reid is the only candidate for governor to offer solutions for today and a plan for Nevada’s future success–supporting strong schools for a stronger economy. For more information about his campaign or to download his plans, visit Rory2010.com.
