The Baroque World of Fernando Botero
Through July 25, 2010
Colombian artist Fernando Botero blends beauty, tradition, and modernity in this exhibition of 100 paintings, drawings, and sculptures drawn from his private collection. Kids and adults can learn more about Fernando Botero’s art with SCVNGR – an interactive text message or web app tour of the exhibition.
Major sponsorship provided by the Wayne L. Prim Foundation. Contributing sponsorship provided by Wells Fargo Foundation. Additional funding provided by the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

ARTOWN TOURS
• Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in July / 1:30 pm – Tour the exhibitions with a trained docent. Tours are free with admission, all-ages are welcome. Space is limited to the first 20 participants.
• Spanish language tours every Sunday through July 25 / 2 pm – Tour the exhibitions with a trained Spanish-speaking docent. Tours are free with admission, all-ages are welcome.
• Every Saturday and Sunday / 1 pm – Tour the exhibitions with a trained docent every weekend. Tours are free with admission, all-ages are welcome.
• Every Thursday (except First Thursday) / 6 pm – Tour the exhibitions with a trained docent while the Museum stays open late on Thursday nights till 8 pm. Tours are free with admission, all-ages are welcome.

UNR Spanish Language and Literature professor Darrell Lockhart presents an overview of García Márquez’s work, and its relationship historically and culturally to the art of Fernando Botero. $5 / $4 Museum members.

ART BITE Emma Sepulveda on Violence in Latin America

Emma Sepulveda, UNR Foundation Professor, writer, and human rights activist, addresses the histories of violence, and the political and social upheavals in Latin America that are reflected in the works of Fernando Botero. $5 / $4 Museum members.

Pianist Ron Williams Performs 50th Anniversary Recital

What to Do with Kids in the Art Museum

hands/ON! SUNDAY FAMILY PROGRAM – Burning Man Hula Hoops
Sunday, July 25 / noon, 1, 2 and 3 pm
Celebrate the upcoming Burning Man gathering by touring the galleries and enjoying a hula hoop lesson by burner and hula hooper, Morgan Helsper. One-hour sessions beginning at noon, 1 pm, 2 pm and 3 pm. Bring the entire family for this FREE, fun program featuring hands-on art projects and gallery activities for all ages. Space is limited to the first 60 participants for each hour of the program. Sponsored by the City of Reno Arts and Culture Commission, the Mathewson CLAT #5 and the Sato Foundation.

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm; open late on Thursdays until 8 pm. Closed Mondays, Tuesdays and national holidays. $10 adults, $8 seniors/students, $1 kids 6-12, free kids 5 and under, free for museum members.
