SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C—Sen. Harry Reid met this week with Wade Pope from the Nevada Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors.

Pope thanked Reid for the opportunity to discuss issues that affect Nevada’s small business and also asked for Reid’s assistance to increase access to financing for construction projects and other legislative efforts that will help them recover from the difficult state of Nevada’s housing market.

“Builders and contractors in Nevada have felt the full force of this recession, and I appreciate them meeting with me to discuss ways to provide a boost to the industry,” said Reid. “Declining home and land values, combined with a strong inventory of homes, have created a difficult situation in our state. That’s why we have been working to implement programs like the first time homebuyers tax credit. I remain committed to working with builders and contractors to identify tax breaks and incentives that will help these businesses recover.”
