Bailey set the tone with a grand slam in the first inning, and followed it up with a three-run double in the second to put the Aces ahead 7-0 in a game that saw the teams combine for 21 runs and 24 hits. The Beavers tried to close the gap, cutting the lead to 9-5 in seventh, but Reno would answer with a four-run frame to extend the lead.

In the seventh, Ed Rogers knocked an RBI-double to the right-field corner, and Brandon Allen delivered a knockout blow with a three-run triple to right field that gave the Aces a 13-6 lead.

Bryan Augenstein (3-6) earned the win for Reno, allowing just two runs over six inning of work. Augenstein struck out five without allowing a walk, before three Aces relievers closed the door on the Beavers.

Matt Buschmann (0-4) took the loss for Portland, as he was lifted after just 1.1 innings of work. The Beavers starter allowed seven runs—six earned—before handing the ball to the bullpen, who kept Portland in the game before the Aces four-run seventh.

Bailey set a new Aces franchise record with eight RBIs on the afternoon, while Allen added three RBIs and drew two of Reno’s 10 walks. Carlos Corporan continued his hot hitting Sunday, going 3-for-5 with a double and his sixth home run of the season, a towering blast leading off the eighth inning.

The two teams square off for game three of this four-game set Monday evening, with Aces RHP Kevin Mulvey (0-5, 5.30 ERA) set to face Portland RHP Will Inman (2-3, 3.42 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. from Aces Ballpark, and 1,500 fans 18 and older will receive an Aces adult replica jersey before the game.
