Nearly 400 arts and culture events spanning the entire month of July are now at your fingertips with the new Artown iPhone App, a tool to navigate the 31-day Artown festival in Reno, Nev. Like 63% of Artown, the app is free and includes an interactive events calendar with mapping and search functions, blog and Twitter feeds, lodging details and ways to get involved.

“The launch of this app is the perfect way to commemorate our 15th anniversary and how far we’ve come as an arts organization,” Artown Executive Director Beth Macmillan said. “In our first year we could print all of the festival’s events on a small poster. Now we have this amazing mobile tool that connects attendees with events and provides quick access to in-depth and up-to-the-minute information through our social networks. It’s a giant leap for the most comprehensive arts and culture festival in the nation.”

Artown partners with more than 100 arts organizations to present an annual festival highlighting music, dance, theater, visual arts, family and multicultural events, many taking place on an island on the Truckee River in downtown Reno. Highlights for the 2010 event include Opening Night with MarchFourth Marching Band and Tiempo Libre July1, Joan Baez July 6, Coeur D’Alene Art Auction July 24, Diavolo with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra July 30 and Closing Night with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe July 31.

To download the app, visit iTunes and search Artown. For more information on Artown, visit www.RenoIsArtown.com or call 775-322-1538.
