SILVER SPRINGS — Join Nevada State Parks rangers for a scenic and informative canoe trip along the Carson River from Fort Churchill State Historic Park to Lahontan State Recreation Area. Participants will meet at Fort Churchill’s Visitor Center at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, May 15, for this five hour, seven mile guided tour. Reservations are required.

Canoes are available upon reservation at 775-577-2226, extension 3. There are a limited number of canoes available. Once they are all filled, participants who would like to join the tour are asked to bring a canoe, as well as a life preserver and a paddle for each person. All participants are asked to bring appropriate clothing and lunch.

Rangers will be available to answer questions, identify wildlife and interpret the history of Lahontan State Recreation Area, as well as ranches along the Carson River.

Vehicles will be available to return all participants to Fort Churchill at the conclusion of the tour. The tour will be dependent on spring run-off and conditions of the river. When making reservations, names and phone numbers are required, in case park staff need to contact participants for any necessary scheduling changes.
