ffhrlogo-300x55-1075602-4811251LAS VEGAS–After a week of national attention for her health care bartering scheme that even included ridicule on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Sue Lowden is doubling down on it.

In an interview yesterday on Nevada Newsmakers, Lowden said, “I’m telling you that this works. You know, before we all started having health care, in the olden days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor, they would say I’ll paint your house. I mean, that’s the old days of what people would do to get health care with your doctors. Doctors are very sympathetic people. I’m not backing down from that system.”

Lowden’s total lack of touch with reality might be amusing to some, but her ignorance is actually compounded by her record as an employer on health care issues. Her disgraceful record as a casino executive has been well documented. Lowden illegally forced her employees to sign away their health insurance, padded her bottom line by forcing people onto Medicaid rolls instead of providing affordable coverage and cut employees’ hours so that they no longer qualified for health benefits.
