Harry Reid statement on appointment of Patricia Atkinson to the American Folklife Center Board

harryreid1-150x150-9931534-3917766WASHINGTON, D.C.–Nevada Senator Harry Reid this week announced the appointment of Patricia Atkinson of Nevada to the American Folklife Center Board at the Library of Congress. Pat Atkinson presently works as the Folklife Program Coordinator at the Nevada Arts Council.

“Pat Atkinson will bring a Western perspective to the American Folklife Center Board,” Reid said. “She has a wealth of knowledge about the arts in Nevada that will serve her well in this position. I was pleased to nominate her and I look forward to her work.”

Atkinson has worked as a professional folklorist for more than 35 years. She has worked as an arts administrator, cultural consultant, educator and interpretive specialist. Atkinson sits on advisory panels for the National Endowment for the Arts, the Southern Arts Federation and state arts councils in Illinois, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
