WASHINGTON, D.C.–Sen. Harry Reid this week announced $1.1 million in research grants has been awarded to the University of Nevada to aid in the prevention of obesity. These grants will fund a study on the treatment and prevention of adolescent and adult obesity, the aim of which is to learn more about current weight trends and better methods to promote healthier lifestyles in Nevada.
“I am pleased that the University of Nevada will be joining the First Lady in her work to build healthier communities,” said Reid. “Obesity is a growing health epidemic. These funds will help children avoid the preventable and costly diseases caused by obesity so they may enjoy a healthier and more prosperous future.”
