CARSON CITY — Governor Jim Gibbons today announced the appointment of Mark Amodei to the Colorado River Commission. Senator Amodei served in the Nevada Assembly from 1996 to 1998 and in the Nevada State Senate from 1999 to 2010, where he also served as President Pro Tem of the Senate. As part of his legislative service, Mark has served on the Public Land Committee, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Legislative Oversight Committee, and the Legislature’s Western Regional Water Commission Oversight Committee.
“Mark Amodei is a Nevada native with strong ties to our precious natural resources,” Governor Gibbons said, “His in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with public lands and water resource issues will be an asset to the Colorado River Commission.”
“Voter enacted term limits are just beginning to have a great impact on public policy and the legislative process in Nevada,” Amodei said, “I look forward to providing institutional knowledge and continuity to water policy in Nevada by serving on the Commission.”
Senator Amodei’s appointment is effective upon his resignation from the Nevada State Senate, expected tomorrow.
The Colorado River Commission of Nevada serves the communities of the State by responsibly managing and protecting our Colorado River water and power resources.
