Hometown Health was recently recognized by the Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition (NNIC) with the 2009 Silver Syringe Award for Outstanding Immunization Program. Through Hometown Health’s efforts at the Oct. 24, 2009 drive-thru flu shot event, more than 1,000 community members received seasonal flu vaccines and more than 70 people received pneumonia vaccines.
“Renown Health is committed to serving our community,” said Kathleen Davis, R.N., Case Manager/Quality at Hometown Health. “A group of volunteers from Hometown Health and a group of Renown Health nurses help make this event possible every year. This award recognizes their efforts to provide this important service to our community for the past 17 years.”
Again in 2009, Renown Health supported the Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition’s efforts, which protected more than 50,000 people from childhood diseases, influenza, hepatitis A and B and other threats to their health.
