South Lake Tahoe Calif.–  The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) has issued a Notice of Intent (NOI) for Revision of the LTBMU Forest Plan.  The official NOI was published in the Federal Register on March 19, 2010.  With this announcement, the LTBMU will be preparing a Draft Revised Forest Plan.

Public meetings will be scheduled this April to describe plan revision and gather public comment on potential alternatives.

A Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the revised plan will be available for public examination and comment by the fall of 2010.  The Forest Service expects to provide the final revised forest plan and final EIS by the summer of 2011.

The Forest Service will be announcing the dates and locations the April public meetings soon, and will be posting this as well as all news related to plan revision including information of how to provide comment, on the LTBMU web site:  fs.usda.gov/ltbmu.
