SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
BATTLE MOUNTAIN — The Bureau of Land Management, Battle Mountain District Office plans to continue prescribed burning activities in the Big Well Unit of the Railroad Valley Wildlife Management Area located approximately 20 miles southwest of Currant, Nev. during the month of April.
Smoke may be visible in Currant along Highway 6. Signs will be posted along the highway on days of burning activities. The intent of the project is to dispose of heavy gasses and sedges to maintain wildlife habitat. Approximately 100 acres will be cleared.
Ignition operations will be intermittent to allow for adequate smoke dispersal, and burning will not occur on every day during the burn window. The prescribed burn is highly dependent on weather conditions and fuel parameters, and may be postponed until a window of acceptable prescriptive conditions opens.
