SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

WASHINGTON D.C.–Sen. Harry Reid welcomed Nevada members from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Among his guests were Presidents Pat Pusich, Max Hershenow, Deepika Padam, Western Mountain Region Directors Ric Licata and Ed Vance, Nevada Legislative Director Eric Roberts, Executive Director Randy Lavigne, Public Works Committee member David Frommer and Paul Cline of Emerging Professionals.

Reid discussed the role of green architecture to spur job creation and discussed prospects for federal assistance for the clean energy industry’s projects. In detail, the group addressed the need to modernize existing school buildings in Nevada, make financing more accessible to small businesses, and provide tax incentives for green building design and renovation.

“A big part of creating green jobs will be retrofitting old buildings and building new ones that are energy and water efficient,” Reid said. “Working with forward-thinking groups like the AIA, we are trying to encourage the private sector to create jobs through energy efficient development that diversifies Nevada’s economy and saves consumers money.”
