Allen Eugene Klump, probably better known as Mr. Vegetable to Northern Nevada gardeners, died Feb. 4.
Klump was a master gardener and developed a program called “Mr. Vegetable” for schools, according to his obituary. He was host of Mr. Vegetable’s Garden Talk Line from 1989 to 2006. He also taught gardening at Truckee Meadows Community College.
A celebration of his life will be held at Garden Shop Nursery, 3636 Mayberry Dr., Reno, this Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m.
