reno_bighorns-300x156-4862957-4973268Reno Bighorns guard Desmon Farmer has been selected as an NBA Development League All-Star replacement, the league announced today.

Farmer, a 6-5 shooting guard out of USC, leads the Bighorns in scoring (24.1 ppg), minutes (40.8 mpg) and three-pointers made (68). On Jan. 16 at Idaho, Farmer set the Bighorns franchise scoring record with a 41-point performance in Reno’s win over the Stampede.

The lefty from Flint, Mich., is a veteran of 11 NBA games over two seasons, splitting time between the Seattle Supersonics and San Antonio Spurs. On December 13 against Bakersfield, Farmer recorded the first of only eight triple-doubles in the D-League this season.

Farmer currently sits second on the all-time NBA Development League’s scoring list, trailing only Rio Grande Valley’s Will Conroy. Farmer has poured in 2,888 career points in just 140 games, for a career average of 20.6 points per game.

Farmer will be in action tonight as the Bighorns play host to the Idaho Stampede at 7 p.m. in the Reno Events Center. Tickets start at just $7, with group rates starting at $6 per person.

Special partial-season mini-plans are also available for weekend games in March and April. Call (775) 284-2622 or visit www.RenoBighorns.com for more information.

The NBA Development League, founded in 2001, is the NBA’s official minor league whose teams have direct affiliations to NBA franchises.  For the 2009-10 season, the league will feature 16 teams – including the debut of the Maine Red Claws and the Springfield Armor.  A proven developer of talent, 20 percent of players in the NBA at the conclusion of the 2008-09 season boasted NBA D-League experience, while the league continues to develop coaches, referees, and front office staff for the NBA and its teams.  In fostering the league’s connection to the community, its teams, players and staff promote health and wellness, support local needs and interests, and assist in educational development through NBA D-League Cares programs.  The NBA D-League also advances the game of basketball as the research and development arm of the NBA.  Throughout the season fans can watch all NBA D-League games on NBA Futurecast, the free live Web-streaming initiative found at nba.com/futurecast.
