SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Gov. Jim Gibbons today signed documents extending a program that helps Nevada families purchase their first home. “Home At Last” is a special home financing program coordinated by the Nevada Rural Housing Authority. Gibbons has approved using up to $185,000,000 in Single Family Mortgage Revenue Bonds to help first time home buyers across the state attain their dream of home ownership.

The “Home At Last” program features low interest rates (4.875 percent to 5.375 percent) for families that meet certain income criteria. Some families may qualify for a free down payment assistance grant that does not have to be paid back. Also, the homes can be in any of Nevada’s 17 counties, but must be in rural areas (towns with populations less than 100,000).

“Any Nevadan who thinks homeownership is out of reach for his or her family should look into this,” Gibbons said. “This program helps hardworking Nevadans get into their first homes.”

The “Home At Last” program has helped more than 500 Nevada families purchase their first home since the program started in 2006.

There is no deadline to apply for the program, but the money is available on a first-come-first-served basis. Anyone interested in checking the details of the “Home At Last” program can visit the Nevada Rural Housing Authority’s Web site at www.nvrural.org. The Web site includes a list of participating banks and financial institutions.
