Western, cowboy, and southwest Indian artists are invited to submit an application to participate in galleries planned as part of the Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival slated for Thursday, April 29 to Sunday, May 2, 2010. The juried art show will begin with a VIP Champagne Preview on Thursday evening followed by two full days of gallery showings of the artists’ work for sale. The jurying fee for the event, which is expected to draw well over a thousand attendees each day, is $20. After being accepted as a part of the jurying process, the gallery fee will be $250.
The Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival is co sponsored by the Town of Genoa and the Carson Valley Arts Council, and will feature a star studded lineup of Cowboy poets and musicians. Among those scheduled to appear are Waddie Mitchell, Don Edwards, Paul Zarzyski, Lacy J Dalton, Dave Stamey, Larry Maurice, Richard Elloyan, David John and the Comstock Cowboys and McAvoy Lane. The Festival’s Master of Ceremonies will be KOLO Channel 8 personality John Tyson.
In addition to the many performances, workshops are planned throughout Friday and Saturday, including sessions on storytelling, ranch tours, blacksmithing, leather tooling, saddle making, and many more.
