Opinion: Why Limit Death Panel to Children and the Elderly?
Just as I was giving up hope that the health care debate would serve no useful purpose, along comes Sarah Palin to the rescue. I think a Death Panel is a terrific idea. Not so much for the elderly, but I have long felt that what unruly children need is a good consultation regarding end of life scenarios. Threatening them with a trip to the Congressional Death Panel might be just what the doctor ordered.
State Nursery has Plants Available for Fall Planting
The Nevada Division of Forestry State Tree Nursery in Washoe Valley has a great selection of low cost, conservation plants available for fall planting. Fall is a great time for planting as warm soils encourage root growth before the ground freezes. Fall plantings with an already established root system will be more tolerant of the summer heat. Take advantage of this time by visiting the Washoe Nursery before it closes for the winter on October 10, 2009.

Free Stargazing Events at Mormon Station and Dangberg Home Ranch
Nevada State Parks invites the public to attend free stargazing events on Saturday, August 15, at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden, and on Friday, August 21, at Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa. Both events begin at 7:00 p.m. and end by 10:00 p.m. Members of the Astronomical Society of Nevada are providing telescopes for the public to view Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, a comet and various galaxies, star clusters and nebulas. The public is welcome to bring telescopes as well.
